Gilda’s Club Admin & Events Intern – Spring Semester

Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids is seeking an energetic, hard-working intern for the spring semester (January-April 2019, 15-20 hours a week). Responsibilities will vary depending on an applicant’s experience, skills and areas of interest / major. This internship is recommended for individuals with an interest in or experience with non-profit administration, volunteer coordination, communications, education, customer service, hospitality, public relations, special events, leadership and management and/or logistics. This internship is unpaid.

Reports to:

Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids and Gilda’s LaughFest Volunteer Program, Lead Coordinator

Qualifications:

Desire to learn

Excellent communication and computer skills

Detail oriented

Team player

Patient & flexible

Timely & dependable

Related experience or interests

Time Commitment:

400 hour internship, preferred

Minimum 15 hours per week during business hours with occasional weeknight/weekend hours

Additional nighttime/weekend opportunities during LaughFest in March

December orientation; formal internship January through April

This internship is unpaid

Program Team Staff – Part-time (Licensed Master Social Worker) – Avg. 12 to 15 hours/week

Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids opened its doors in 2001 with the mission to provide free emotional health support to children, adults, families and friends on any kind of cancer journey or those grieving a death due to any cause.  We provide a comprehensive program, delivered by professionals, which includes education, structured sharing times, networking, lectures, workshops and social activities.

This part-time position will serve as a collaborative member of the program team dedicated to planning, developing and/or facilitating various groups as assigned, according to the Gilda’s Club philosophy.  Responsibilities could include cancer and grief support groups for adults and/or children, providing information and referral to members, coordination of lectures and workshops, family focus and team convene meetings, new member meetings and customized membership plans.
